health and fitness resolution

Staying in good physical shape requires resolution! Nothing is more important than deciding to follow a fitness plan. Over the holidays, many of us make a New Year’s resolution to get fit and be healthy, but I’m here to tell you that every day is the time for a health and fitness resolution. Although we often blame external circumstances for our poor health (eg, candy at the office, fast food, “the holidays”), in reality, the real barrier preventing us from reaching our fitness goals is our own procrastination.

How often have we said to ourselves, “Someday I’ll wear that dress” or “In time I’ll get back to my college weight”? Again and again we delay our health and fitness resolutions until a future date. It’s time to stop this incessant procrastination because all we end up doing is having a perpetual desire … an endless desire. Resolve to make these dreams come true. The time of delay has come to an end. As Shakespeare says, “Don’t postpone time; delays have dangerous ends.”

The secret to living a healthy life is based on the understanding that tomorrow never comes. Our tomorrow is nothing more than the consequences of the decisions we make today. When we think about it, it becomes obvious that today is all we have. The past no longer exists. The future is yet to come. The present is all that exists! The person you want to be in the future, therefore, will only exist when the person you really are resolves to do something … NOW. Once again, every day is a health and fitness resolution!

Achieving your long-term fitness goals requires a commitment. There are no short cuts! What this will mean is different for each person. The best way to maximize your time and effort is to work with a personal trainer. He or she will help you determine which exercises and diet are best for your fitness and living situation. It’s so much easier to reach your fitness goals when you have a daily plan that tells you how to get there.

Despite numerous gimmicks, fad diets, and sophisticated exercise plans, reaching your optimal health and fitness goals is actually quite simple. It requires two ingredients; 1) an exercise plan that suits your body type and goals, 2) your determination and resolve to follow this plan, every day! I’m not saying you have to train every day, it’s the mindset you want to be on top of. Armed with this two-pronged attack, fitness will lose its mysterious and elusive quality. There are exercise and diet plans. Finding a program that works for you is very possible. The real question you should ask yourself is this; “Do I have the resolve and determination to work toward my goals every day?” Do I sincerely want each day to be a resolution for health and fitness?

The great secret of happiness in life is to realize that today is all we have. The seeds of the future are present in the small decisions you make today. Each day is an opportunity and an invitation for you to become the new and improved. Do you want to be healthier? Want to increase your fitness level? So resolve today, and every day, to do what it takes! Make each day a health and fitness resolution.

You can do it! You really can be the person you want to be. It all depends on how much you want it. It is this very desire, no, this determination, that will transform your fitness goals into reality!
